Short-circuit fault is the most dangerous fault type in ESS, which is mainly caused by battery internal defects, insulation damage, improper operation, and external mechanical impact. Once a short circuit occurs, the fault current will rise to tens of kA in an instant, and the huge short-circuit energy will cause the battery temperature to rise rapidly, triggering the decomposition of the battery electrolyte, the release of combustible gas, and eventually leading to thermal runaway, fire and explosion.
The core function of the high-quality energy storage fuse is to cut off the short-circuit fault at the source before the battery enters thermal runaway. The aR category fast-acting fuse can complete the entire process of melting, arc extinguishing and breaking within 100 microseconds, and its unique current-limiting characteristic can cut off the fault current before it rises to the peak value, greatly reducing the let-through energy (I²t) of the fault.
